La forme originelle du bloc Caire JE 39410 provenant d’Héracléopolis Magna, ainsi que le type de texte qui y est gravé, tenant à la fois du décret royal et de la Königsnovelle, permettent de déterminer l’étendue de la lacune du début du texte. L’étude du monument a permis de proposer une nouvelle lecture du premier mot conservé, les Asiatiques sṯtyw. En effet, la graphie du premier cadrat dérive d’une confusion entre écritures hiératique et hiéroglyphique, tandis que, dans le cadrat suivant, le hiéroglyphe fragmentaire figurant un oiseau, comparé aux autres oiseaux présents sur le bloc, ne peut plus être lu comme un poussin de caille. Le premier mot conservé sur le bloc doit être interprété comme un fragment de la titulature de Sheshonq Ier, constituant une épithète d’un deuxième nom d’Horus d’or de ce roi.

Taking into consideration the original shape and the type of text found on an inscribed block from Herakleopolis Magna (Cairo JE 39410), the author is able to partially reconstruct the original text, despite missing the beginning of it. The block can be described as midway between a copy from a Royal Decree and a Königsnovelle. Thanks to a study of the monument itself, a new reading of the first preserved word – the sṯtyw Asiatics – can be proposed. The graphics observed on the first cadrat derives from confusion between hieroglyphic and hieratic scripts; whereas the bird on the following cadrat, compared with other birds on the same block, can no longer be read as a quail-chick sign (G 43). The first preserved word on the block must be interpreted as part of a royal titulary belonging to Sheshonq I, forming an epithet from a second Golden Horus name for the king.
