Services archéologiques
L’Ifao est l’institution de référence de la recherche archéologique française en Égypte. C’est le partenaire incontournable pour toutes les activités de terrain de la France dans ce pays.
L’Ifao est actuellement impliqué dans 34 opérations de terrain.
Le service archéologique (responsable Joachim Le Bomin) comprend trois services essentiels au bon déroulement des missions dont l’Ifao a la charge et le laboratoire de céramologie :
1. Le service des relations avec le ministère du Tourisme et des Antiquités (responsable, Rose Alphonse Milek) est chargé d’assurer la gestion administrative des missions : préparation et suivi des dossiers soumis au Comité Permanent du ministère, relation avec les musées, relation avec les inspectorats locaux.
2. Le service topographique comprend un agent : Mohamed Gaber, responsable.
3. Le service photographique comporte deux agents : Matjaž Kačičnik, photographe et Ihab Mohamed Ibrahim, photographe.
4. Le laboratoire de céramologie est constitué de deux agents : Sylvie Marchand, céramologue, responsable et Ayman Hussein, dessinateur.
Le service archéologique intervient dans l’attribution des différents moyens sollicités par les chefs de mission : véhicules et logistique de terrain, matériel technique et intervention des personnels spécialisés.
Chaque année, les résultats de l’activité archéologique de l’Ifao paraissent dans le rapport d’activité annuel, accessible et publié en ligne.
IFAO is the reference institution for French archaeological research in Egypt. It is the essential partner for France's field activities in this country. IFAO is currently involved in 34 field operations.
The archaeological service (under the direction of Joachim Le Bomin) includes three departments which are essential to the smooth functioning of the archaeological missions for which IFAO is responsible, in addition to the ceramology laboratory:
1. The department of relations with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (under the direction of Rose Alphonse Milek) is in charge of the administrative management of missions: the preparation and follow-up of applications submitted to the Permanent Committee of the Ministry, relations with museums, and relations with local inspectorates.
2. The topographical department has one member: Mohamed Gaber, head topographer.
3. The photographic department includes two members: Matjaž Kačičnik, photographer and Ihab Mohamed Ibrahim, photographer.
4. The ceramology laboratory comprises two members: Sylvie Marchand, head ceramologist, and Ayman Hussein, draughtsman.
The archaeological service is involved in assigning the various resources requested by heads of the archaeological missions including vehicles and field logistics, technical equipment and the assistance of specialized personnel.
Each year, the results of IFAO's archaeological activities are published in the Annual Activity Report, which is available online.
