Depuis plus de 25 ans, la « Bibliographie de la pré- et protohistoire de l'Égypte et du Nord Soudan » est l'outil de recherche bibliographique essentiel concernant la préhistoire, la période prédynastique et le début de la période dynastique en Égypte et au nord du Soudan (jusqu'à la latitude de Khartoum). La bibliographie originale a été publiée en 1995 par Stan Hendrickx, avec des mises à jour annuelles dans la revue Archéo-Nil, en collaboration avec Wouter Claes à partir de 2010. Grâce à l'aide et à la collaboration de l'IFAO (Christian Gaubert) et d'Archéo-Nil (Yann Tristant), la BEO est désormais disponible sous forme de base de données en ligne et librement accessible à l'adresse https://www.ifao.egnet.net/bases/beo/
La BEO sera mise à jour régulièrement. Par conséquent, les ajouts annuels ne seront plus publiés dans Archéo-Nil. Nous continuerons à apporter des améliorations à la base de données en commençant d’abord par l'intégration des noms de lieux en arabe afin de faciliter la localisation des sites mentionnés dans le registre des sites.
Early Egypt Bibliography (EEB)
For over 25 years, the “Bibliography of the Prehistory and the Early Dynastic period of Egypt and northern Sudan” has been the essential bibliographical research tool regarding the Prehistoric, Predynastic and Early Dynastic periods in Egypt and northern Sudan (up to the latitude of Khartoum). The original bibliography was published in 1995 by Stan Hendrickx, with yearly updates in the journal Archéo-Nil, from 2010 onwards in collaboration with Wouter Claes. With the generous aid and collaboration of the IFAO (Christian Gaubert) and Archéo-Nil (Yann Tristant), the EEB is now available as a freely accessible and online database at https://www.ifao.egnet.net/bases/beo/ .
The EEB will be updated regularly. Therefore, the yearly additions will no longer be published in Archéo-Nil. We will continue to implement improvements to the database starting in the near future with the integration of place names in Arabic to facilitate the location of sites mentioned in the site register.
Depuis 1978, les fouilles de l’Ifao dans la ville antique de Balat-‘Ayn ’Asil (oasis de Dakhla) ont mis au jour plusieurs milliers de scellés d’argile marqués d’empreintes de sceaux (estampilles/button-seals ou sceaux-cylindres). La plupart proviennent du palais sud, résidence des gouverneurs de l’oasis à la fin de l’Ancien Empire/début de la Première Période Intermédiaire (vers 2200-2050). Cette base de données vise à inclure à terme l’ensemble des scellés du site urbain et de sa nécropole. La première livraison publiée ici inclut déjà plus de 800 scellés, qui proviennent tous des magasins royaux situés au sud du palais, ravagés, comme le reste du bâtiment, par un grand incendie. Parallèlement est présenté un catalogue des sceaux restitués ou reconstitués à partir de leurs impressions.
Balat sealings
Since 1978, excavations carried out by the Ifao team in the ancient town of Balat-‘Ayn ’Asil (Dakhla oasis) yielded thousands of clay sealings bearing seal impressions (made by button-seals or cylinder-seals). Most of them come from the southern palace, residence of the oasis governors in the late Old Kingdom/early First Intermediate Period (ca. 2200-2050). Eventually, this database should include all the sealings found in the town and its necropolis. The first batch published here already includes more than 800 sealings, all from the royal storerooms located in the southern part of the palace, totally destroyed, as the whole building, by an arson. Alongside is published a catalogue of the matrices reproduced or reconstructed from their imprints.
