Cet article présente quelques réflexions préliminaires sur les bains situées dans les caravansérails construits par Lālā Muṣṭafā Pacha à Qunayṭra (971 h./1563) et par Sinān Pacha, à Quṭayfa (999 h./1590-1591), sur la section syrienne de la route impériale. L’étude est fondée sur la comparaison entre les descriptions des actes de fondation (waqfīya), les vestiges architecturaux et des bains dans le même type de fondation ailleurs dans l’Empire. En outre, on y discute des aspects stratégiques de ces fondations ainsi que l’influence architecturale mutuelle entre le centre et la périphérie de l’Empire ottoman.

This paper presents some preliminary thoughts on bath houses located in the caravanserais built by Lālā Muṣṭafā Pasha in Qunayṭra (971 h./1563) and by Sinān Pasha, in Quṭayfa (999 h./1590-91), on the Syrian section of the imperial road. The study is based on a comparison between the descriptions from the endowment deeds (waqfīya), architectural remains and baths in similar foundations elsewhere in the Empire. Aspects of mutual architectural influence between the centre and periphery of the Ottoman Empire and the strategies that lay behind their foundation are also considered.
