Les sources favorables aux Almohades restent rares. On ne peut, tout au plus, recenser que deux ou trois ouvrages, partiellement redécouverts en Europe sous la forme d’unicum. La chronique appelée al‑Mann bi‑l‑Imāma d’Ibn Ṣāḥib al‑Ṣalāt relève de ce cas de figure. L’aspect aussi original que déroutant du titre et de la structure du récit contribua à rebuter les spécialistes de l’histoire de l’Occident musulman retardant d’autant sa publication. La prépondérance des lettres de chancellerie et des vers que comportait al‑Mann bi‑l‑Imāma conduisit à déconsidérer cette source pourtant essentielle. De plus, la citation latine : « sunt verba et voces et praeteraque nihil » qu’associèrent Reinhart Dozy puis Ambrosio Huici Miranda à al‑Mann bi‑l‑Imāma afin de dénigrer cette chronique a probablement participé à ce qu’elle ne fasse pas l’objet d’une édition intégrale. C’est la volonté de doter le Maroc et le monde arabe d’une nouvelle source à même d’éclairer « son passé » qui amena un lettré marocain, Abdelhadi Tazi, à en réaliser une édition critique en 1964.

Sources favorable to the Almohads remain rare. At most, only two or three works can be identified, partially rediscovered in Europe in the form of unicum. It was the desire to provide Morocco and the Arab world with a new source that could shed light on “its past” that led a Moroccan scholar, Abdelhadi Tazi, to produce a critical edition in 1964.

قليلة هي المصادر التي تصب في صالح دولة الموحدين. ولا نكاد نحصي إلا كتابين أو ثلاثة كتب تمت إعادة اكتشافها جزئـيا على شكل نسخ فريدة. ومؤلَّـف المـنّ بالإمامة لابن صاحب الصلاة يندرج في هذا الإطار. فـعنوان الكتاب غريب ومثير للانتباه كما هو حال بنية النص، وقد ساهم هذا في تبريد همّـة أخصائيي الغرب الإسلامي ممّا أدّى إلى تأخير نشره. وقد زاد من فـقْد حظوة هذا المؤلَّـف أنّه يحتوي على عدد هائل من الرسائل الموحدية والأشعار. وعلاوة على هذا فإنّ العبارة اللاتينية «إنّـك لست إلا صوتا ولا غير» التي ألصقها المستشرق رينهاردت دوزي ومن بعده هويسي ميراندا بهذه الكتاب، للنيل منه والتقليل من قدره، قد ساهمت في عدم نشره بكامله. وفي إطار إرادة المغرب والعالم العربي لإيجاد مصدر جديد من شأنه أن يُضيء «ماضيه» فقد أخذ الباحث المغربي عبد الهادي التازي على عاتقه تحقيق المؤلَّـف ونشره سنة 1964.
