Trois documents récemment découverts par la mission italo-américaine au bord de mer Rouge – deux coffres en bois et un ostracon écrit en hiératique – témoignent d’une expédition envoyée au pays de Pount en l’an 8 du règne d’Amenemhat IV. Dirigée par l’inspecteur des recrues, le scribe royal Djédy, elle dut embarquer au port maritime du ouadi Gaouasis et en tout cas y débarqua à son retour. Elle constitue à ce jour l’opération la plus récente attestée sur le site.

Among the discoveries during work done by the Italian-American mission on the Red Sea are three inscribed objects – a hieratic ostracon and two wooden boxes – that provide information about an expedition sent to the land of Punt in year eight of Amenemhat IV’s reign. This expedition, in search of marvellous trade goods, was conducted by the royal scribe Djedy. It is thought that the expedition embarked and returned from the seaport of Wadi Gawasis. This event is considered to be last expedition to have taken place from this site.
