Cet article souhaite attirer l’attention sur un carré de lin peint conservé au musée de l’Agriculture du Caire (inv. 893). D’après le texte qui y est inscrit, l’étoffe appartient à un gardien dans la Place-de-Maât appelé Amenemopé, qui a sans doute vécu pendant la première moitié du règne de Ramsès II ; elle provient donc vraisemblablement de Deir al-Medina.

Dix-neuf parallèles sont mentionnés provenant aussi pour la plupart de Deir al-Medina, qui se répartissent en deux catégories principales. La première comporte quatorze exemplaires montrant le (la) défunt(e) représenté(e) assis(e) à gauche devant une table d’offrandes (sept lins sont peints et sept autres portent des dessins à l’encre noire). La seconde catégorie se compose de cinq tissus peints qui montrent un officiant figuré devant le(s) défunt(s) assis de l’autre côté de la table d’offrandes. À ces deux catégories sont ajoutés trois autres lins peints du Nouvel Empire, de style différent, mais provenant probablement eux aussi de Deir al-Medina. Une liste des vingt-deux étoffes classées selon leur lieu de conservation clôt l’article.

This article deals with a painted piece of linen preserved in the Agriculture Museum in Cairo (inv. 893). A description of the linen piece is made, followed by a study of the text indicating that it probably comes from Deir al-Medina and that it belongs to a guardian in the Place-of-Maat called Amenemope, who would have probably lived during the first half of the reign of Ramesses II.

In the second half of the article, the author provides nineteen parallels, most of them from Deir al-Medina and can be divided into two main groups. The first group consists of fourteen samples showing the deceased seated on the left before an offering table (seven of them are coloured while the drawings on the remaining seven are in black ink). The second group consists of five pieces of painted linen showing a standing person in front of the deceased, who is seated before an offering table. In addition to these two groups, there are three painted linen pieces from the New Kingdom; of a different style, but probably coming from Deir al-Medina as well. The article concludes with a list of the twenty-two pieces of linen sorted according to their present location.
