Dans cet article, une nouvelle interprétation est proposée pour l’un des insectes de la scène 10 du rituel de « l’Ouverture de la bouche ». Le mot « ḫnś » est envisagé comme une écriture défectueuse du mot « ḫnmś » “moustique”. Cette graphie est confortée par un parallèle. L’explication tient à l’assimilation de “m” en “n”, qu’il faut attribuer à la proximité phonétique des deux consonnes.

In this contribution, a new explanation for one of the insects in Scene 10 of the “Opening of the Mouth” ritual is suggested. The word “ḫnś ” is taken seriously and interpreted as a  spelling mistake of “ḫnmś ” “midge, mosquito”. The spelling can be supported by a parallel. The explanation being the assimilation of “m” to “n” due to the phonetic similarity between the two consonants.
