The 14th International Conference for Nubian Studies was held in Paris September 10th-15th 2018 in collaboration between Musée du Louvre and Sorbonne Université. The current status of research in site management, cultural heritage and museums, was particularly emphasised during the conference by the completion of the bilateral Qatar Sudan Archaeological Programme, thanks to which many Sudanese colleagues were able to attend the Paris gathering.

The Proceedings are now published in the 20th issue of the journal Kush. Fifty-five contributions present the advances of international research on Middle Nile Valley archaeology and history. In the tradition of the previous conferences (Neuchâtel in 2014), the richness and importance of Sudanese sites is highlighted along the different phases of its Prehistory and History (Kingdoms of Kush: Kerma, Napata and the 25th Dynasty in Egypt, Meroe), Medieval, Post-Medieval and Modern Periods. Archaeology, archaeometry, bio-anthropology, linguistics, art-history and museum studies are among the disciplines involved.

Le 14^e congrès international des études nubiennes s'est tenu à Paris du 10 au 15 septembre 2018, fruit d'une collaboration entre le Musée du Louvre et Sorbonne Université. Cette rencontre des professionnels de la recherche autour du patrimoine soudanais a été axée principalement sur l'état actuel des connaissances en matière de préservation des sites archéologiques, du patrimoine culturel et des musées, et elle venait clore le projet bilatéral Qatar Sudan Archaeological Programme grâce auquel de nombreux collègues soudanais ont pu venir participer au congrès.

Les actes sont désormais publiés dans le numéro XX de la revue Kush. Cinquante-cinq articles présentent les avancées de la recherche internationale sur l’archéologie et l’histoire de la vallée du Nil Moyen. Dans la tradition des congrès précédents (Neuchâtel en 2014), la richesse et l'importance des sites soudanais sont mises en valeur de la Préhistoire à son histoire la plus récente:  Royaumes de Kouch (Kerma, Napata et 25e dynastie en Égypte, Méroé), les périodes médiévales, post‑médiévales et modernes. L'archéologie, l'archéométrie, la bio-anthropologie, la linguistique, l'histoire de l'art et la muséologie font partie des disciplines impliquées.

انعقد المؤتمر الدولي الرابع عشر لدراسات النوبة في باريس في الفترة من ١٠ إلى ١٥ سبتمبر ٢٠١٨، وهو ثَمَرة التعاون بين متحف اللوﭬﺮ وجامعة السوربون. حيث دار هذا الملتقى للمتخصصين في البحث العلمي الخاص بتراث السودان بشكل أساسي حول الحالة الراهنة للبحث العلمي في مجال حفظ المواقع الأثرية والتراث الثقافي والمتاحف؛ كما مثل نهاية لـ«المشروع القطري السوداني للآثار»، الذي تمكن بفضله العديد من الزملاء السودانيين من الحضور والمشاركة في المؤتمر.    

تم نشر وقائع المؤتمر في العدد العشرين من دورية «كوش»؛ حيث تَعرِض خمسة وخمسون مقالة التَّقدُّم الذي أحرزه البحث العلمي على الصعيد الدولي في مجالي علم الآثار وتاريخ وادي النيل الأوسط. وتبعًا لتقاليد المؤتمرات السابقة (نوشاتيل عام ٢٠١٤)، تم إبراز ثراء وأهمية المواقع السودانية بدايةً من عصور ما قبل التاريخ وحتى العصر الحديث: ممالك كوش (كرمة، نبتة والأسرة الخامسة والعشرون في مصر، مروي)، العصور الوسطى، فترات ما بعد العصور الوسطى والحديثة. وتندرج علوم الآثار والقياسات الأثرية والأنثروبولوﭼﻳﺎ الحيوية واللغويات وتاريخ الفن وعلم المتاحف في التخصصات المعنية بالدراسة.
