The aim of this conference is to gather scholars to discuss the Book of Amduat, a funerary corpus that is documented over more than a millennium on a variety of writing media: tomb walls, coffins, sarcophagi, and papyri. Despite its abundance and overall significance, this documentation remains understudied. Copies and excerpta from the Third Intermediate Period remain largely unpublished, as are those from the Late Period. While more work has been done on the versions from New Kingdom, several issues need to be further studied and discussed. Finally, the amplitude and relevance of the documentation from the Ptolemaic period remains poorly understood and needs to be more adequately addressed.
