Egyptian Textiles and their Production: “Word” and “Object” (Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine Periods)
Maria Mossakowska-Gaubert et Pascale Ballet
Partenaire(s) de l’Ifao : University of Copenhagen
Dedicated to archaeologists, historians, philologists and papyrologists, this work compares different points of view on looms, tools, dyeing and organization of textile production in Egypt. To add a comparative dimension, some studies concerning other geographical and culture zones, especially Early Medieval Northern Europe and pre-Columbian South America, are included in its program.
This event is organized by the Centre for Textile Research (CTR) at the University of Copenhagen, withhin the framework of the MONTEX project – a Marie Skłodowska-Curie individual fellowship, in collaboration with the French Institute of the Oriental Archaeology in Cairo (IFAO): Contextes et Mobiliers project, and support from the Institut français du Danemark and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
