How to conduct a research in Egyptology

In order to consolidate the bounds between the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels (Alexandria University) and the Ifao, Rania Merzeban, Mathilde Prévost and Ahmed M. Mekawy Ouda organized a workshop dedicated to tools and methods of research in Egyptology, and opened mainly to master and PhD students of the Faculty.
Two steps are planned:
- December 2022, 14 and 15: training on two days at the Faculty, for around twenty students. Subjects tackled: the definition of one’s subject of study, books and digital tools for research, bibliography, publication in international journals and in Open Access, oral presentation. The speakers for these sessions will be Ahmed M. Mekawy Ouda, Rania Merzeban and Mathilde Prévost.
- March 2023: one-day visit to the Ifao (archives, library) for the trainees of the first step. It will be accompanied by Rania Merzeban, Ahmed M. Mekawy Ouda, Mathilde Prévost and Marion Claude.

Afin de renforcer les liens entre la Faculté du Tourisme et des Hôtels de l’Université d’Alexandrie et l’Ifao, Rania Merzeban, Mathilde Prévost et Ahmed M. Mekawy Ouda ont développé le projet d’un workshop consacré aux outils et méthodes de la recherche en égyptologie, et destiné essentiellement aux étudiants de master et de doctorat de la Faculté.
Formation en deux temps :
- les 14 et 15 décembre 2022 : formation de deux jours à la Faculté, pour une vingtaine de participants. Au programme : la définition de son sujet d’étude, les outils (livresques et numériques) de recherche, la bibliographie, la publication dans les revues internationales et en Open Access, la présentation orale. Les sessions seront assurées par Ahmed M. Mekawy Ouda, Rania Merzeban et Mathilde Prévost.
- En mars 2023 : visite sur une journée à l’Ifao (archives, bibliothèque) pour les participants à la première étape. La visite sera encadrée par Rania Merzeban, Ahmed M. Mekawy Ouda, Mathilde Prévost et Marion Claude.
