يمنح هذا المشروع متدربًا مصرياً من طلبة الدراسات العليا (او الحاصلين على الماجيستير او الدكتوراه) إمكانية للدراسة والتدريب في مجال دراسة عصور ما قبل الأسرات٬ كما يمكن ان يُتيح للمتدرب موضوعًا مناسبًا لرسالة ماجستيرعن الآثارالجنائزية في موقع نقادة (شمال الأقصر).

ستكون مهام المتدرب الرئيسية في هذا المشروع هي القيام برقمنة الأرشيفات القديمة لحفائر فليندرس بيتري في هذه المنطقة كما تتضمن أيضًا إنشاء كتالوج بالتصويبات لكلّ المعلومات الوارد ذكرها في الدراسات السابقة، كما سيقوم بتحديد المحتوى الأثري لكل مقبرة، واعداد الرسومات التي توضح توزيعه، مع تقديم تفسير دقيق للممارسات الدفن، وتخيّل منطقي لما كانت عليه والمحتوى الأصلي قبل نبشها.

إنّ الهدف النهائي لهذا المشروع  هو عمل نشر كامل ودقيق  لمقابر منطقة نقادة من خلال الأرشيفات ودراسة القطع المحفوظة في العديد من المتاحف حول العالم. سيكون للمتدرب الحرية في اختيار موضوع الدراسة الخاصّ به، وسيتم تقديم الدعم والإرشاد العلمي والأكاديمي والتأهيل المناسب لإتمام الدراسة على النحو الأكمل، وسيحق للمتدرب المشاركة في إعداد النشر مع فريق العمل الخاص بالمشروع.

يُشترط للتقدم لهذه المهمة الإلمام التام باللغة الإنجليزية، مع العلم أنه سيتم تدريب الشخص المقبول على المهارات الآتية:

• التعريف بالكتب والمقالات وجميع المراجع العلمية المنشورة عن عصور ما قبل الأسرات وخاصة عن حضارة نقادة
• التدريب على أسلوب رسم الفخّار في علم الآثار والتمييز بين أنواع الفخار الخاصّة بعصور ما قبل الأسرات وكيفية تأريخها
• التدريب على استخدام البرامج الخاصة برسم الفيكتور(أدوب ألستريتور وإنكسكيب) خاصةً في رسومات المقابر
• منهجية دراسة الآثار الجنائزية وتفسير ممارسات الدفن في مصر القديمة وتحليل التطوّر الزمني للمقابر

*** لا يُشترط أن يكون المتدرب على معرفة مُسبقة في هذا المجال أو هذه المهارات.

هذه الفرصة للتدريب والدراسة تطوعية بالكامل ولا تُعتبر منحة  كما لا تشتمل على أي مكافآت مالية أوالتسجيل في جامعة أجنبية بل تعتبر فرصة للمشاركة في برنامج بحث دولي، وصقلاً للخبرات المصرية في هذا المجال.

We are seeking candidates to join a team and commit to a research project (NUBTI project - PI: Chloé Girardi) related to the funerary archaeology of the site of Naqada (north of Luxor), where the Predynastic culture of the same name was first discovered. The project offers the opportunity to participate in the re-examination of this data for scientific publication as well as an opportunity for training in the area of Predynastic studies. This can also be envisioned as a topic for a master’s thesis.

The project mainly entails the digitalization of the archive of Flinders Petrie (1895) and cross-checking of previous publications in order to assess the exact contents and layout of each tomb before proposing an interpretation. The ultimate goal is to propose a complete republication of the cemeteries of the area, both by the careful examination of his archive and of material in various museums, within the next three to four years. The applicant will be free to pursue his/her research as they wish, with tutoring as well as training to acquire the technical skills needed, and will take part in the preparation of the publication of the raw material and interpretations with other members of the project.

The successful applicant(s) will have the opportunity to be trained in the following fields and acquire the following skills. No previous knowledge is required as long as the applicant is willing to learn and has a good level of English, but students with already a basic knowledge are also welcome to apply:

• expertise in scientific literature about the Predynastic period, especially the site of Naqada;
• ceramic profiles drawing and knowledge of Predynastic (Naqada I-III) ceramic typology;
• Computer Assisted Drawing (Illustrator/Inkscape), especially for tomb plans;
• funerary archaeology, interpreting burial practices and chronological development of cemeteries.

This is not a paid position and it does not provide enrollment in a foreign university. This is an opportunity to work with an international research group, be trained thoroughly by both the supervisor of your choice in Egypt and the collaborators of the project, and work on material with a direct publication opportunity after completion of the master.
