The Arabic Papyrology Seminar, moderated by Professor Khaled Younes, Scientific Collaborator at the Ifao, is pleased to announce a two-day joint papyrological seminar in collaboration with the Austrian Archaeological Institute in Cairo (OeAI). This event is held within the framework of the Papyrological Spring School in Cairo, organized by Professor Bernhard Palme, Professor of Ancient History and Papyrology at the University of Vienna and Director of the Department of Papyri and the Papyrus Museum at the Austrian National Library. The seminar brings together participants from the Arabic Papyrology Seminar and ten advanced students from the University of Vienna for a shared academic exchange in the field of Papyrology.
The seminar will be held over two days:
- Day 1: Tuesday, 13 May 2025 – Hosted at the Ifao in Cairo, the day will feature a series of lectures delivered by scientific members and researchers from the Ifao, followed by a guided tour of the archives and library. In the afternoon, participants will visit the Saladin Citadel.
- Day 2: Wednesday, 14 May 2025 – The seminar will continue at the Austrian Archaeological Institute in Cairo (OeAI) in Zamalek, with a focus on late antique papyri and their historical significance.
