Anatomy of some Book of the Dead Papyri

As part of the 9th Hieratic Academy, which brings together specialists in this script at the Ifao from 28 September to 2 October, Silvia Einaudi (University of Cagliari) will give a public lecture on Wednesday 1st October at 6 p.m. entitled: "Anatomy of some Book of the Dead Papyri".
The lecture is open to the public, subject to the availability of space in the Ifao conference room.
Abstract
The formal analysis of inscriptions and vignettes of certain Book of the Dead papyri reveals interesting features regarding the practical work of scribes and draftsmen, as well as their graphic and iconographic choices. In particular, these manuscripts provide valuable insights into the processes of copying and composing texts and images, which allow to establish connections between documents of diverse origins.
Silvia Einaudi est maître de conférence en Egyptologie à l’Université de Cagliari (Italie) et collaborateur scientifique à l’UMR 8546 AOrOc « Archéologie et philologie d’Orient et d’Occident » (EPHE, PSL) de Paris. Elle co-dirige la mission française dans la tombe de Padiaménopé (TT33). En 2021 elle a publié une monographie sur le tombes monumentales tardives de la nécropole de l’Assassif: "La rhétorique des tombes monumentales tardives (XXVe-XXVIe dynasties). Une vue d’ensemble de leur architecture et de leur programme décoratif" (CENiM 28).En lien avec cet évènement
Les conférences de l’Ifao
Les conférences de l'Ifao ont pour objectif la transmission des résultats des recherches en cours ou très récentes, par des chercheurs confirmés. Y sont conviés essentiellement les chercheurs impliqués dans les différentes opérations scientifiques de l'Ifao lors de leur passage par l'Institut. ِElles sont également parfois le lieu de présentation d'ouvrages récemment parus à l'Ifao par leurs autheurs. Les conférences de l'Ifao ont lieu traditionnellement les mercredis aprés-midis, en français ou en anglais.
IFAO Lectures series aim to transmit the results of current or very recent research by confirmed researchers. They are mainly animated by researchers involved in IFAO's various scientific programs and projects during their stay at the Institute. They are also sometimes the occasion for presentations, by their authors, of books recently published by the IFAO.
IFAO Lectures series are traditionally held on Wednesday afternoons, in French or English.
