L’objectif de ce colloque est de rassembler les restaurateurs égyptiens, soudanais et internationaux qui travaillent en Égypte et au Soudan afin d’exposer leurs travaux et échanger sur les techniques et matériaux utilisés, les problèmes rencontrés et les solutions mises en oeuvre pour répondre aux différentes problématiques du terrain. La discussion qui sera menée au cours de ces trois jours de conférences et table ronde permettra de compléter et de mettre à jour le bref chapitre consacré à la restauration des objets en matériaux organiques publié à l’Ifao par Wuttman et Drieux en 2002 dans l’ouvrage intitulé La conservation en archéologie. Dans la continuité de l’article publié en 2015 par Nesrin el Hadidi (professeur de conservation, Université du Caire) dans la revue Studies in Conservation, les travaux de restauration menés par les étudiants en restauration et restaurateurs égyptiens seront au cœur du futur protocole de restauration des bois sur le terrain.
Les deux premières journées seront organisées autour des conférences données par les restaurateurs du bois qui auront répondu à notre appel à contribution. Ces deux premiers jours de conférences seront accessibles au public. La troisième journée sera organisée autour d’une table ronde afin de revenir sur les deux jours de discussion et préparer la publication du protocole de restauration des bois.

Conserving and Restoring Archaeological Wooden Heritage in Egypt and Sudan State of research, challenges and perspectives

The aim of this conference is to bring together Egyptian, Sudanese and international conservators working in Egypt and Sudan to present their work and to discuss the techniques and materials used, the issues encountered and the solutions implemented in response to these various problems in the field. The discussion that takes place during these three days of lectures and round table will enable completion and updating of the brief chapter devoted to the conservation of objects made from organic materials that was published at the IFAO by Wuttman and Drieux in 2002 in the book entitled ‘La conservation en archéologie’. Following the article published in 2015 by Nesrin el Hadidi (Professor of Conservation, Cairo University) in the journal ‘Studies in Conservation’, the work carried out by Egyptian conservation students and conservators will be at the heart of the future wood treatment protocol on the field.
The first two days will be organised around lectures given by wood conservators who have responded to this call for papers. These first two days of lectures will be open to the public. The third day will be organised around a round table discussion to review the two days of talks and prepare the publication of the wood conservation protocol.

الحفاظ على التراث الأثري الخشبي في مصر والسودان
(دراسات الحالة، التحديات والآفاق)
القاهرة 26، 27، 28 سبتمبر 2022تتوافر الاثار الخشبية في مصر بشكل كبير لسببين رئيسيين: وجود كثافة سكانية عالية عبر العصور، أدت إلى إنتاج واستخدام مستمر للأخشاب منذ بداية تاريخها، وقبل كل شيء الظروف المناخية القاحلة التي ساعدت في الحفاظ على تلك المقتنيات الخشبية بشكل جيد. ومع ذلك، تمثل التربة في مصر عدة إشكاليات معقدة ومتنوعة لحفظ الاثار الخشبية، فبعض المناطق الاثرية تعتبر شديدة التأثر من هجمات الحشرات اكلات (ناخرات) الاخشاب، وارتفاع مستويات الملوحة، وارتفاع منسوب المياه تحت السطحية التي تتطلب تدخلات ترميم طارئة. تعتمد تلك التدخلات على كل من سياق الاكتشاف أو العرض المتحفي وكذلك توافر المواد المستخدمة في أعمال الترميم، والتي يكون اغلبها صعب المنال. لذلك من الضروري التكيف مع ظروف العمل بالمواقع الاثرية للاستجابة بشكل أفضل لمشاكل صيانة الاثار الخشبية وتثبيتها ومن ثم ترميمها وإعادة تغليفها.
لعدة سنوات، تم تطوير بروتوكول لترميم التوابيت الخشبية من قبل العديد من المؤسسات الشريكة في إطار مشروع دراسة التوابيت الخشبية بالفاتيكان. هذا البروتوكول كان مخصصا بشكل أساسي لترميم وصيانة الاثار الخشبية بمعامل الترميم، وتوفير المبادئ والمفاهيم والمصطلحات وكذلك التطبيقات التكنولوجية التي يحتاجها المرممون العاملون في هذا المجال. من ناحية أخرى، هناك نقص في بروتوكولات ترميم الاخشاب المطبقة في مواقع الاثار المصرية والسودانية، رغم وجود عدد كبير من المرممين المتخصصين في هذه النوعية من المواد الاثرية، والذين يجب عليهم تكييف تقنياتهم وفقًا لظروف صيانة الاخشاب المستخرجة من اعمال الحفائر المختلفة (سواء من بيئة جافة او رطبة) الى جانب أيضا الاعمال الخشبية المتداخلة في العمارة والفنون الإسلامية والقبطية والتي تعتبر ايضا معرضة للتدهور الناتج عن عوامل مختلفة (تلوث، املاح، رطوبة ...).
من أجل الرد على هذه الإشكاليات، سيتم تنظيم محاضرات على مدار ثلاث أيام بالمعهد العلمي الفرنسي للآثار الشرقية بالقاهرة وكذلك عبر الانترنت، من أجل الإعداد لإصدار بروتوكول متعدد اللغات (عربي - فرنسي - إنجليزي - إسباني) لترميم وصيانة التراث الخشبي في مواقع الاثار في مصر والسودان. الهدف من هذا البروتوكول هو أن يجمع في كتاب واحد جميع التقنيات وقائمة المواد المستخدمة في هذا المجال من قبل المرممين في مصر والعالم الذين يلتزمون بتكييف تقنيات ترميم الاخشاب المطبقة معمليا مع قيود العمل في المواقع، سواء في اعمال التنظيف، أو صيانة، أو ترميم، أو تغليف الاثار الخشبية.
لهذا، نود أن نكون قادرين على الجمع بين المرممين المصريين والدوليين الذين يعملون في مجال صيانة وترميم الاثار الخشبية في مصر والسودان لعرض نتائج دراساتهم ومناقشة التقنيات والمواد المستخدمة، وكذلك المشكلات التي يتم مواجهتها والحلول المنفذة للاستجابة للمشكلات المختلفة في المواقع الاثرية. ستتم المناقشة التي ستجرى خلال هذه الأيام الثلاثة من المحاضرات والموائد المستديرة لاستكمال وتحديث الفصل الموجز المخصص لترميم المواد الاثرية العضوية الذي تم نشره بالمعهد العلمي الفرنسي للآثار الشرقية بواسطة فولتمان ودريوكس في عام 2002 في كتاب بعنوان La conservation en archéologie.
ان اعمال الترميم التي يقوم بها طلاب علم الترميم والمرممين المصريين ستمثل المحور الرئيسي للبروتوكول الخاص بترميم وصيانة الاثار الخشبية في المواقع الاثرية المقرر اعداده، والذي يعتبر امتدادا لما نشرته نسرين الحديدي (الأستاذ بقسم ترميم الأثار بجامعة القاهرة) في دورية Studies in Conservation عام 2015.
سيتم تنظيم اليومين الأولين للمحاضرات التي يقدمها اخصائيو ترميم الاخشاب ممن يستجيبوا لهذه الدعوة لتقديم مداخلات. حيث سيكون هذان اليومان مفتوحين للجمهور. بينما سيتم تنظيم اليوم الثالث على شكل مائدة مستديرة (ورشة عمل) لمراجعة نتائج المداخلات والمناقشة حول اصدار بروتوكول ترميم الاخشاب الاثرية.
