• Well-dated finds that have served as guidelines for evaluation of early Islamic glass:
Fusṭāṭ, Raqqa, Samarra, Famen Pagoda, Serçe Limanı.

• Particular decorative modes:
– impressed with tongs (for example, glass from al-Mina);
– marvered trails (for example, glass from Ḥamā);
– engraving and cutting (for example, “Hedwig’s-glass”).
