La date de découverte proposée par Azim, Réveillac:2004, I, 298: « 31/12/1903 » ne peut être maintenue. Legrain:1906, 53-54 ne donne pas de date de découverte, mais précise (Remarque): « On rencontra la tête et le torse presque à l'orifice de la cachette. Le reste était brisé en très nombreux fragments qui furent retrouvés un peu partout, à tous les niveaux. ». JdF 1903-1904, 19 mentionne la découverte, très certainement le 27/12/1903, d'un « buste d'Harmhabi » (13e objet découvert) que le bordereau d'envoi au Musée du 24/1/1904 (Ms 4027, f° 318 : « 4. Buste d'Harmhabi. Granit gris ») nous permet d'identifier à la fois comme K4 et comme JE 36583 « Haut d'une statue du roi Hor m heb debout, coiffé du klaft…» qui est la partie haute de CG 42091. Le 6/1/1904, Legrain fait un bilan sommaire des premières découvertes (JdF 1903-1904, 25) et parle du visage intact « d'Harmhabi » ce qui confirme bien qu'il s'agit de K4.
