• Deals with the issue of Mamluk glass vessels thought to be European imitations made in the 19th century.
• The Rothshild bucket (big beaker) (probably last quarter of the 14th century):
– inscriptions:
Anā aḥtawī al-maʾ al-sirr (”I contain pleasant water”);
Inna ʿiṯyar al-anāmil ṣurratī (”Indeed, dust of the fingers is my reward”).
– iconographie : lion, double-headed eagle, friezes of palmettes.
• The Kassel bucket (last quarter of the 14th century):
– kufic pseudo-inscription, blue enamel frames, floating tendrils, sketchy floral scroll.
• Chemical analyses: Na2O, MgO, Al2O3, SiO2, P2O5, SO3, Cl, K2O, CaO, TiO2, Cr2O3, MnO, Fe2O3, CoO, NiO, CuO, ZnO, As2O3, SnO2, Sb2O3, BaO, PbO.
