FAKHRY, Ahmed

Site identified by Daressy (ASAE I, 1898, 44-47) with Dionysias. Registered wooden artifacts:
- J.32089 small hexagonal wooden altar with small feet, rough Roman work, H. 0.10 m; Dia. 0.08 m;
- animal (lion? cat?), presumed figurine, roughly worked, L. 0.085 m.
Fakhry’s excavations in 1940, recorded wooden artifacts (p. 907 for list and pls CXXX and CXXXI):
- pulley with attached rope of palm fiber, for leading animals (khattaf in Arabic), pegging tents (kom rommeh, four per tent);
- leg of couch, lathe-turned, H. 23 cm (cf. G.A. Wainwright, ASAE XXV, 112-119, turnery from Kom Washim);
- long artifact, 55 cm, with 9 pegs fixed to it at one end, use uncertain to Fakhry (currently can be interpreted tentatively as an agricultural implement).
