Probably single picture (one strip preserved) rather than part of folding triptych or a box panel. Framed once.
Painted representation of Isis in Graeco-Roman style, dated on stylistic grounds to the 2nd century (found in mid-4th century fill in a room of the Temple of Tutu). Votive offering, following private devotional use, possibly in domestic context for an unspecified period of time.
Article contains archaeological note on discovery context, comments on technical aspects of the wood panel, discussion of iconography and a comparative analysis with corpus of panel paintings, other than mummy portraits, surviving from Roman Egypt.
