• Using a special firing of short duration for enamelled decoration on ‘minaʾi’ ceramic (Iran): late 12th century. A similar principle was exploited to enamel glass, beginning in Syria in about the same period.

• One difficulty in envisaging an interaction between enamelling on glass and on pottery remains, in that Iranian potters used enamels but Iranian glass workers apparently did not.

• Example of an other interrelationship between the pottery and the glass industries in the Islamic world:
– using of the mineral chromite as a black pigment on Islamic ceramics and enamel glass: practice derived from the pottery industry.
