Bothmer:1960, 103, tout en mettant en relation cette statue avec celles de sa famille (RT 8/12/24/3 et Glasgow, Burell <13.233>, cf. CK 675 et CK 556) donne pour seule provenance: « Not known; undoubtedly Karnak ». De Meulenaere:1993, 45 publie « un petit dossier composé de quatre statues inédites provenant de la Cachette de Karnak » mais ne s’explique pas précisément sur les raisons qui le conduisent à considérer que MMA 08.202.1 provient de la Cachette. Prêchent toutefois en faveur de cette idée, la prosopographie de MMA 08.202.1, l’existence, précisément, de ce dossier familial comportant 3 autres statues (elles assurément de la Cachette) et, enfin, la date d’achat par le MMA (1908). Le site internet du MMA assure aussi cette provenance Cachette.
