Commentaire sur la provenance dans Bothmer:1960: « Not known; probably Karnak (cachette). Acquired in Egypt in 1906 ». Le site internet du BMFA est moins précis en ce qui concerne la Cachette qui se contente de signaler une provenance de Karnak probable (d'après les inscriptions), mais confirme l'achat officiel de la statue en Égypte en 1906 (date d'entrée dans les collections du BMFA: 8/8/1907). On a donc établi la date de découverte en fonction de ces informations. Jansen-Winkeln:2000 indique sans doute par erreur « Bubastis » comme provenance de cette statue.
