La date de découverte et le numéro K (297) fournis par Legrain:1909, 7 (7 mai 1904) sont erronés ; voir déjà Gauthier:1925, 5. Legrain a confondu, dans les informations bibliographiques données au CG, cette pièce avec CG 42144. Les deux pièces sont d’après-lui: K297/JE 37423. Or 7/5/1904 est la date de découverte de CG 42144 qui est aussi une statue de Ramsès II agenouillé en prosternation, ce qui explique sans doute la confusion. La découverte de K724 s’est sans doute produite en plusieurs fois puisque la statue a été trouvée en plusieurs fragments. Ainsi dans une lettre à Maspero en date du 25/5/1906 (Ms 4057 f° 392), on lit: « Deux mots en hâte pour vous dire que la fouille continue. Nous avons : 1 cynocéphale d’Amenothès IV (K723), 1 statue de la XXIIe(K728) et enfin une belle statue de Ramsès II se traînant à genoux (1/4 grandeur naturelle). Il n’en manque encore que la jambe droite, mais j’ai bon espoir de la retrouver. La figure est intacte (K724) ». Legrain n’évoque pas le fait qu’un ou plusieurs fragments ont été découverts plus tôt. Même s’il a pu s’en apercevoir par la suite, et en prenant en compte la confusion avec K297/JE 37423/CG 42144, la date de découverte du 7/5/1904 devient très douteuse. La date du CG n'a donc pas été maintenue et la date postulée par la séquence-K et la lettre MS 4027 choisie.
