S’il ne fait aucun doute que la tête provient bien de la Cachette (vraisemblablement en mai 1906 d’après la séquence-K), le reste de la statue est mentionnée dans la collection du 4e Duc de Northumberland depuis 1880 (voir Birch, Egyptian Antiquities, 56-58) ce qui assure une découverte bien plus ancienne. Au contraire de la tête, le corps ayant conservé sa glaçure, il y a tout lieu de supposer qu’elle fut trouvée dans un lieu plus sec, sans doute plus proche de la surface.
