Submitting Samples to the Laboratory
All sample of Egyptian origin, will only be accepted with the relevant documentation
and a copy of the approval forms from the Supreme Council of Antiquities (CSA).
To obtain this approval, you need to mention your request in the text body of
your letter : (for example " Request for sampling and transfer to IFAO Laboratory
of samples of (list of materials) for C14 datation analysis".)
If the permanent committy and the CSA security give their approval , you have
to contact the Research, Restoration and maintenance center of the CSA. This center
will delegate the supervision to one of its members for the selection of samples,
and verification of the conformity of the request to the actual sampling and transfer
of artefacts . He will take in charge the samples after the writing of a verbal
statement signed by himself, the inspector on site , the director of the archaeological
area and the Mission Director. He will bring those samples to our laboratory where
another verbal statement of receivables will be written and signed. Please take
an apointment with us prior to this delivery of samples.
Please send us a letter or an email with your project , as early as possible,
with your requirements in terms of analysis, along with a completely filled-in
submission form (one form for each sample).
Your request and order will not be dealt with unless complete information is delivered
