L’O.NMEC 117 fait partie de la collection du National Egyptian Museum of Egyptian Civilization (musée national de la civilisation égyptienne). Il explique comment il a péché en ayant une affaire extraconjugale avec une vieille femme avec qui il a vécu pendant un an. Ensuite, se rendant compte que son comportement avait été inspiré par le diable, il décida d’aller au monastère de l’Apa Samuel et de demeurer là pour obtenir le pardon de Dieu. Le texte présente des similitudes avec les actes de donation d’enfants au monastère de Saint-Phoibammon à Thèbes. Peut-être était-il destiné à être inséré dans un document plus officiel écrit sur papyrus et adressé au clergé du monastère de l’Apa Samuel (demande pour entrer dans le monastère ou don de soi). Une fois que le document prêt, le brouillon n’était plus utile ou plus valide.

O.NMEC 117 is a part from a seizure collection in the NMEC; the text contains a brief story of a sinner man called Strategios. It explains how he came to sin by having an extramarital affair with an old woman who lived with her for one year. Afterwards, he realized that his behavior was inspired by the devil, so he decided to go to the monastery of Apa Samuel and dwell there in order to obtain God’s forgiveness. The text shows similarities contained in the donations of children to the monastery of St. Phoibammon in Thebes. Perhaps the text was meant to be inserted in a more official document written on papyrus and addressed to the clergy of the monastery of Apa Samuel, either a request to enter the monastery, or possibly a self-donation. Once the document was ready, the draft was no more useful or no more valid.
