La suite des fouilles archéologiques à Doukki Gel, près de Kerma, a permis de retrouver les vestiges d’une ville cérémonielle caractérisée par son architecture africaine aux monuments ovales ou circulaires. Des fortifications impressionnantes semblent relever de coalitions militaires avec des populations provenant du Soudan central. La capitale nubienne de Kerma, située à 700 m au sud, présente une architecture bien différente, influencée par l’Égypte. C’est enfin une troisième architecture, égyptienne, qui s’impose à Doukki Gel à la suite de la conquête de Thoutmosis Ier.

The continuation of the archaeological excavations in Dukki Gel, near Kerma, have revealed the remains of a ceremonial town distinguished by its African architecture, with oval or circular monuments. Impressive fortifications seem to be connected with the military coalitions of populations from Central Sudan. The Nubian capital of Kerma, situated 700 m south, presents a pretty different architecture influenced by Egypt. Finally, it is a third architecture, Egyptian, which forced itself with the conquest of Thutmosis I.
