Dans le cadre du programme des fouilles du Cfeetk au nord de Karnak, une attention particulière a été accordée à l’avant-porte de Thot. Étant donné les mauvaises conditions de conservation des blocs, un important travail de restauration a été nécessaire ; les opérations de nettoyage et de déblaiement ont commencé depuis le côte sud, se sont étendues sur les côtés est et ouest pour s’achever à l’arrière de l’avant-porte (côté nord). Les premiers résultats des fouilles ont révélé la présence d’une occupation romaine ; l’étude de la céramique indique un établissement byzantin dont témoignent aussi le réseau de canalisation en terre cuite et les fours ronds. Parmi les blocs découverts à l’arrière du montant nord-ouest. certains ont offert d’intéressantes informations sur Thot et sa présence à Thèbes. Le plan dessiné reste provisoire et sera complété lors de la prochaine campagne prévue en mars 2010.

Within the framework of recent excavations by the Supreme Council of Antiquities in the northern area of Karnak, a particular program was undertaken for the remains of the Thot’s Temple. The conditions of the blocks were very poor and serious conservation and restoration work of was required. We commenced excavation in the area to the front of the gate (south), then extended the work to the east, west and finally to the rear. It is clear that this gate and surrounding area was occupied during the Roman Period. A study carried out on the pottery dated the settlement to the Byzantine Period. Evidence of this settlement was provided by the presence of ovens, a network of pipelines and specific vessels. A row of blocks were discovered to the rear of the north-western jamb of the gate. Among these blocks, a few offer interesting information regarding Thot and his presence in Thebes. The map published in this paper, reflects the current situation of the excavation and will be developed after the upcoming season next spring.
