The revision of an article published last year gives the opportunity to enhance the list of sources relating to the title rnp, designation of the specific priest of the main goddess of the metropolis of the third province of Lower Egypt. This new inventory makes it possible to clarify and, beyond that, to explain the geographical distribution of the holders of this function. The inquiry also offers the opportunity to review the title ỉry-tȝ, another specific priesthood for which the link with Imaou can be highlighted.

Varia tanitica II.
The preservation of the fragments of statues in the central area of the temple of Amun in Tanis/San el-Hagar has made it possible to better understand the four quartzite colossi of Ramesses II, one of which presents representations of two princesses-queens, Bentanat and Merytra, the latter being unknown until now, on either side of the king’s legs.

Early Roman Osiris Shrouds From Dra Abu El-Naga
Most of the shrouds hitherto studied and published come from private collections or museums, and lack archaeological contexts, so that it has very rarely been possible to relate them to their owners. This paper presents an interdisciplinary study of two shrouds found at Dra Abu el-Naga, their archaeological context, typology and technical details, and an anthropological and paleopathological analysis of the mummies with whom they were associated. The two painted shrouds offer evidence of surviving funerary beliefs and practices in early Roman Thebes and, from a gender perspective, offered, for the first time, the possibility to study enveloping textiles which iconography and texts were designed for males but used on female mummies.

This paper targets papyrus fragments kept at the French Institute for Oriental Archaeology, which can be identified as belonging to the group of documents known as “Stato civile”. These fragments most certainly originate from Bernard Bruyère’s excavations in Deir el-Medina. As such, they enable us to contextualize the related published sources from the Museo Egizio (Turin) and, by doing so, to track down the provenance of several papyri of the Drovetti collection: we suggest that they come from the archive of a lineage of scribes who lived in Deir el-Medina during the second part of the 20th Dynasty. Consequently, the lists of households (“Stato civile”) can be interpreted as internal documents written by the Deir el-Medina scribes in order to manage the houses and villagers.

This study on the sanatorium of Dendara reconsiders the functions of the building, proposed by François Daumas in BIFAO 56 (1956) and by Sylvie Cauville in BSFE 161 (2004). For the first, the sanatorium was a sanitary establishment in which the presence of baths had a curative function; for the second, the building was certainly a tinctorium devoted to the dyeing of liturgical fabrics used in the temple, as well as a resting place for divine statues. In fact, the architectural study showed that it was probably a substitute temple, built according to the model of the southern part of the great temple of Hathor, with the intention of ensuring the continuation of religious worship while construction or renovation work within the great temple itself prohibited it.

This article presents a new examination of the dating elements of the 7th pylon of the temple of Amun-Ra at Karnak, and some new observations concerning its decoration. Traces of amendments to the lists of “captives” carved on the northern face of the monument suggest that the decoration was added in two distinctive phases. A new dating for the construction of the monument and the execution of its decorative program in the reign of Thutmosis III is proposed.

The Tomb of Ta-Ḏḥwty sȝt Ḥr-tȝ (Tathoutis daughter of Herta): Tomb 1 in the Necropolis of Bir el-Shaghala. The Architecture and the Paintings in the Antechamber
Tomb 1 at Bir el-Shaghala (Dakhla Oasis) is a mausoleum-like structure belonging to Ta-Ḏḥwty sȝt Ḥr-tȝ (Tathoutis daughter of Herta). The ground floor has an open-air court and an antechamber and two burial chambers with painted wall decoration. The upper floor has a chapel and a pyramid, which is the largest from a private tomb. The upper part witnessed two phases of use: two vaults were added inside the pyramid and two banqueting rooms to its north. The tomb’s layout is modeled on late dynastic pyramidal tombs, but the vaulted rooms isolate it as a distinctive type.
The antechamber decoration shows many anomalies: the ba of Re, Tutu, and Horus Great of Strength all have human bodies. An apotheosis scene is unique in a tomb from Roman Egypt, as is the ceiling frieze of ba-birds and an Abydene fetish. The paintings in the rooms show stylistic affinities to the “Kharga Coffin Group” and attest to common motifs used in tombs and funerary objects in the oases. The tomb is datable to late 1st century CE on the basis of its architecture and paintings.

The topic of this article is the study of a statue belonging to an official from the Middle Kingdom called Renseneb, which was seized by the Egyptian authorities in 2015 in Damiette among more than one thousand artefacts. It came from some clandestine excavations on the site of Abydos. The owner of the statue, who holds the titles ḫtmtj bjty (treasurer of Lower Egypt) and jmy-r gs pr (director of domain) is supposed to be the same as the owner of a statue discovered in 1998 at Kerma and of a stela kept in the museum of Berlin (ÄGM 32/66). The study of the second title enables Renseneb to be seen as a member of the local administration who was in charge of the management of a royal domain attached to the mâhât-chapel of Mentuhotep II in Abydos.

The excavations of the Madamud (Louqsor) mission on the forecourt of the Montou temple, already cleared by Bisson de la Roque between 1929 and 1931 were carried out in 2017-2018. He discovered a ceramic production area and an enclosure wall called the "9m wall". At present, a substantial new supply of archaeological data enables us to go back to the question of dating the stratigraphic relationships of these different structures. Thus, the 9m wall can now be associated with the restoration of the temple carried out during the reign of Thutmes III, which was to serve as the entrance pylon to the temenos. Its erection marked the discontinuation of the ceramic production district located southwest of the Middle Kingdom temple, which was in operation during the 17th and early 18th dynasties. However, the 9m wall was in operation until the Ptolemaic period, and later was levelled in the Augustan period.
