IFAO

L’éloge sur l’Archange Michel, attribué à Sévère, patriarche d’Antioche, est attesté sur plusieurs manuscrits et fragments de manuscrits à travers le monde, dont les papyrus P. IFAO Copte inv. 133-136, 157-158. Parmi eux, seules une version sahidique et une version bohaïrique contiennent des éléments de recensions communes avec les fragments conservés à l’Ifao.

Cette étude présente une édition semi-diplomatique de P. IFAO Copte inv. 133-136, 157-158, et expose les divers aspects codicologiques des folios, ainsi qu’une traduction en anglais avec un commentaire philologique, une discussion sur la paternité du texte, et un examen du processus de composition de l’éloge.

The Encomium on Michael the Archangel attributed to Severus, Patriarch of Antioch, is at present attested in several fragments and manuscripts across the world, including P. IFAO Copte inv. 133-136, 157-158. Of those manuscripts and fragments, only one Sahidic version and one Bohairic version contain portions of recensions which are parallel to the Ifao fragments.

This study will present a semi-diplomatic edition of P. IFAO Copte inv. 133-136, 157-158 and will address several codicological aspects of the bifolia. It will also present an English translation with a philological commentary, discuss questions of authorship, and examine the process of composition of the encomium.
