For fifty years, controversy over the coronation name of Amenemhat III can be divided into two camps, namely those that read N(j)-Mȝʿt-Rʿ and others who read N(j)-Rʿ-Mȝʿt. In reality, the debate essentially concerns the adjectival predication of possession, which, according to analyses, resorts to a separate predicate n(j)-…A, or in a monoblock predicate n(j)-A. Looking back to the early forms of the name, which predominantly date back to the Old Kingdom, the present study shows that number of elements pleads in favour of the second hypothesis.
Keywords: adjectival predication of possession – nisba n(j ) – personal names – Old Kingdom – honorific transposition – old Egyptian – Nimaatre/Niremaat – royal names.- Yannis Gourdon ( : 132929392)
