• Analyses of glass from the Bijan Island: 1 sample from the Roman Period and 11 samples from the Abbasid Period:
– chemical analyses (12 samples): Na2O, MgO, Al2O3, SiO2, K2O, CaO, TiO2, Cr2O3, MnO, F2O3, P2O5, SO3, ClO, NiO, PbO, CoO, CuO;
– technological studies (10 samples).
• Results:
– chemical analyses:
- glass melted with natural soda: 1 sample of Roman glass and 3 samples from the Islamic Period,
- glass melted with plant ash: 8 samples; some of them with higher aluminium content;
– technological studies:
- glass is “very long and soft”: easy to handle during the production process.
