La provenance de la statue est assurée par le Ms Legrain-Kuentz (Musée du Caire), VI/4: “Trouvée le 9 Juin 1904 dans la cachette de Karnak” (G. Legrain).
L’appartenance à la cachette est déjà suggérée dans Brooklyn:1956, 12: “The text on the front contains an offering formula and invocations of the god Monthu of Thebes and of three different forms of the god Amun — a clear indication of the provenance of the statue, which must have been brought to light with hundreds of similar pieces at the temple of Karnak in the great find made during the years 1904-1907.”
